Fortunately for you, Management has sent an Engineer to prepare the dig sites with LADDERS and YELLOW PLATFORMS:

LADDERS: important tools for navigating the dangers in the mine - tap UP(W) as your Miner jumps into the ladder so that they can HOLD ONTO IT. Jump from LADDER to LADDER to reach the toughest gems.

YELLOW PLATFORMS: your Miner can use these pads to jump higher than normal - fall from great heights or jump repeatedly to experience the benefits.
