You play as Dave, a normal person who got kidnapped by the Controllers. The Controllers are the people who trapped Dave in the simulation that he escaped from. They decided that if he can beat the Purple Abyss simulation he will be free. If he doesn't he will be forced to live in simulations the rest of his life. The Controllers have put minions in the Purple Abyss simulation to make it even harder.
