The point of this game is as follows:
To see how well the player can sense for danger, as there are lots of hidden spikes.
To test if the player can collect enough coins to buy hints.
To see if the player can untangle the maze and beat the game.
This is how I made the game:
First, I watched some video tutorials and checked out some examples.
Next, I created the sprites (objects) and added them to the game.
Then, I programmed the blocks to make my game 'work' as I planned.
After that, I added additional touches like the decorations and the status bar.
Finally, I wrote the story at the beginning of the game.
Here I'll list my difficulties I overcame while making this game:
Making the survival rate bar: It was harder than I expected, but I found an example which was pretty helpful.
Making the hint button: If I tried to explain why it was so hard, it would take a really long time, so if you want to see why it was so hard to create, I have the link here. Unlike the survival rate bar, I tried to find a tutorial to follow because the logic was SO complicated, but I discovered that no one has ever made a hint before, so I was the first person to ever attempt to try and make one!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Making the sprites: I found making sprite blocks in Flowlab was extremely difficult because you need to figure out the size, color, shape, position, etc of the blocks pixel by pixel. That means making sprites in Flowlab requires extreme precision!! This is one thing I don't like about the Flowlab editor. In fact, I don't suggest you to make sprites in Flowlab as it was very time-consuming.
Why did I choose this game creating platform?
I tried to find a game making platform that is free, secure, and easy to use, without needing to download or install anything, so this one was the only one I found.
My mom suggested me to use Scratch (Max and Caden are using it), but I thought it was slightly naive, so I decided to use Flowlab (what I am using right now) instead since it is more professional.
I wish I should have added but didn't include in this game:
Switches that can control the movement of some blocks so the guy can basically build the game himself with some simple logic.
A rope on a tree that swings the guy when he touches it, to make the game more fun and addicting!!
Other kinds of coins likes apples or bananas that give a different value of money, for example, a banana would be equal to 3 dollars, etc.
Other obstacles like a fake treasure box that holds 'poison' or a coin with a weird shape that drains survival rate so then the game will be timed, etc.
A celebration at the end of the game when the player beats the entire game, as a small award.
My Business Plan:
I'll pay for a leader board (a board that shows up on the entire screen of a device to advertise something) so I can earn money by selling this game. It should show up whenever the user tries to use social media until he/she buys this game.
Another great way to let people know about this game is to publish a Youtube video that introduces the user to this game.
Let me know if you like this game or not, if there are any glitches, or if you have any comments. I'd like to hear your feedback!!! Thanks for playing!!!
PS. Sorry if this game is not as you'll expect. I've only been using Flowlab for a few days, so don't expect something like a Super Mario.
PPS. Sorry if there are a few glitches. This is because there is so much information loaded on the game that the loading becomes slow.
PPPS. Please don't break my game or my computer. This project took many, many hours to complete and has very complicated logic, so please respect it!!!
