How to play:
Study Pete's Journal from the Main Menu or whilst playing to learn how the different monsters behave, then:
- Interrogate/Test people to determine if they are a human or what kind of monster they are
- If they are human, let them inside. If not, use the appropriate banishment method to kill them.
- Failure to use the correct banishment or to banish a monster before their patience runs out will result in death
- Failure to let in a human before their patience runs out will result in the human leaving (and probably dying)
- Humans will always exhibit strange monster-like behavior, but not as much as the monsters themselves, so be vigilant
"Cotton to" is an old 19th century American expression meaning to become fond of someone or something. It likely originates from the fact that cotton used to be the staple crop of the American south in old west times. You'll find that there may be many peculiar old west idioms used in this game.
